Greek shipowner George Economou is in the process of selling at least three bulkers.
According to European brokers his Nasdaq-listed DryShips has disposed of the 76,000-dwt Mendocino and 74,000-dwt Bargara (both built 2002).
The Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding-constructed Bargara sold for $9.2m, while the Imabari-built Mendocino went for $9.6m, brokers said.
Both panamaxes are reported to have been bought by Chinese buyers, who have been active purchasers in this market segment.
