Eagle Bulk takes third Scorpio ultramax under the Christmas tree

Scorpio Bulkers' rapid exit from the dry cargo sector continues to help another US owner with its fleet renewal programme.

Stamford-based Eagle Bulk Shipping has snapped up another Scorpio ultramax, taking in the 64,000-dwt SBI Phoebe (built 2016) for $17.65m. The scrubber-fitted vessel had been assessed at $16.95m by VesselsValue.

Scorpio announced the sale Thursday without identifying the buyer, but market sources point to Eagle as taking in its third Scorpio bulker in recent weeks.
