Two Canadian companies have ordered 72,250-dwt self-unloading bulk carriers at Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding (YAMIC)
CSL Group and Algoma Central Corporation said in a statement that they have each ordered two methanol-ready self-unloading newbuildings at the joint venture yard owned by Singapore-listed Yangzijiang Shipbuilding and Japan’s Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding.
The two companies, which are partners in the CSL International Pool, said the ships will pioneer a new generation of “kamsarmax-based ocean belt ships” that will replace the pool’s oldest vessels and “become the model for its next generation of ocean self-unloaders”.
