A Cook Islands-flag general cargo ship has been barred from European ports for failing to turn up at a repair yard after a safety inspection.
The Paris MOU on Port State Control said the 6,100-dwt Balkan 1 (built 2011) was detained in the port of Oristano in Sardinia, Italy on 6 June and left 11 days later.
The organisation had that agreed the vessel would call at a shipyard in Tuzla, Turkey to rectify its faults.
