Trading giant Glencore and Rio Tinto are mulling a merger that could create the mining behemoth made up of two major charterers of bulk shipping.
The two companies have held early-stage talks about a combination, creating a company that would rival BHP Group as the world’s biggest miner, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg.
If consummated, it would be the largest mining deal ever.
