Greek shipowners Castor Maritime and Globus Maritime have raided the secondhand market to acquire kamsarmax tonnage.

Cyprus-based Castor said it has spent $14.8m on a 2010-built, South Korean-built bulker, while Globus spent $16.5m on a 2011-built vessel constructed by Japan’s Universal Shipbuilding Corp.

This is the third kamsarmax that free-spending Castor has acquired this month as part of a wider fleet investment that has seen it spend around $90m on tonnage.
