Capesize rates finished off a down week on Friday, but brokers are still holding optimism for the weeks ahead — at least for now.
The weekly time-charter equivalent (TCE) average for the roomy haulers slid $1,792 per day over the past seven days to $16,252 per day, according to Baltic Exchange assessments.
"The market gave up being long early in the week as the carry-over spot just got too tempting not to sell," one capesize freight-forward-agreement (FFA) broker told TradeWinds.
