Capesize spot rates have risen by almost 50% over the past four days

Spot rates for capesizes saw a nice jump this week, while earnings for smaller bulkers moved mostly sideways.

The weighted time-charter average rate on the Baltic Exchange's five key capesize routes has leapt 43% since Tuesday and reached $33,066 per day on Friday.

The time-charter average rate wobbled on Monday, sliding 4% from Friday's level, before bounding forward from $23,183 per day on Tuesday, according to Baltic Exchange assessments.
