Spot rates for capesize bulk carriers rose again on Monday, despite news this weekend that mining giant Vale has suspended production at its Itabira mining complex.
Iron ore export volumes are expected to be impacted by the closure of the complex, which comprises the Conceição, Cauê and Periquito mines, which together account for around 10% of all Vale’s iron ore production.
