Capesize earnings saw their biggest-ever recorded increase on Thursday for the second consecutive trading day, while activity in the paper market has begun to cool off.
The weighted timecharter average rate for the Baltic Exchange's five major capesize benchmarks (5TC) rose by an unprecedented $6,244 on Thursday to reach $25,280 per day.
This breaks the record set on Wednesday for the biggest interday increase in the assessment since the Baltic's current methodology for the assessment was introduced in 2014.
