AVIC International Leasing has taken advantage of demand for prompt vessels in the bulker market to flip a kamsarmax newbuilding that is to be delivered next year for a near $8m profit.
The Chinese leasing company sold the 85,000-dwt bulker newbuilding with Hull No B85k-9 being constructed at Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding through Zhejiang Shipping Exchange’s online platform Shipbid for $36.03m.
IHS Markit lists the hull as being the SDTR Irene, one in a series of 10 bulker newbuildings that SDTR Marine of Singapore has bareboat chartered from AVIC Leasing for five years.
