Taiwan’s Wan Hai Lines is plotting orders for feeder boxship newbuildings that could cost the company up to $900m.
Industry sources said the Taiwanese liner operator is looking to order two different types of feeder vessels: 2,800-teu ships and 1,900-teu Bangkok-maxes.
One source indicated that Wan Hai is aiming for eight to 12 larger ships, which would have 400 reefer plugs, and 12 to 16 Bangkok-maxes with 250 reefer plugs each.
