The Kuwait-based company will jump from twentieth place inthe list of the world’s largest containerlines into the top twelve once all tenvessels have been delivered, according to Drewry Maritime.
UASC firmed up a $1.4bn order for five 18,000-teu vessels andfive 14,000-teu units at Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries at the endof August.
The larger-sized ships are due to be delivered from late2014, while the smaller ships will begin emerging from the shipbuilder’s Ulsanyard in mid-2015.
