The Finnish manufacturer on Tuesdayemerged as the winner of a contract to equip two of Totem Ocean Trailer Express’diesel-electric ro-ros with LNG power systems.
The conversion deal is tied to the 7,200-lane Midnight Sunand NorthStar (both built 2003), which currently service a loop that linksTacoma, Washington to Anchorage, Alaska.
Uponcompletion the companies claim the new system will help reduce sulphur oxide,particulate matter, nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide emissions from each ship by roughly 100%, 91%,90% and 35%, respectively.
