On Friday two of the bankrupt Danish bunker supplier’s US affiliates filed a complaint against the 3,400-teu Box Trader (built 2010) in California.
The judge assigned to the case ordered US Marshals to arrest the ship, which, coupled with other clues, leads observers to believe the suit stems from an unpaid fuel bill.
Today, a spokesman for Box Ships acknowledged that the New York-quoted operator owns the Box Trader but said it has nothing to do with the dispute.
