Disruptions at the port of Dover have eased following a weekend of long delays, while P&O Ferries has attributed the unrest to French authorities’ extra security checks.
The Port of Dover said today there were no longer queues at the port but advised allowing plenty of time for travel.
Helen Deeble, chief executive of P&O Ferries, said: “Increased security checks at the border are completely understandable but the French authorities must provide adequate numbers of staff to ensure that these checks can be processed quickly and efficiently.
