Soaring fuel prices caused by continued unrest in the Middle East and North Africa may force NYK to impose further slow-steaming measures, a report claims.



The Japanese giant may look to reduce the speed of its containership fleet by a further 10% as it battles with two-year-high bunker prices, Bloomberg reports.

The owner looks set to stop short of super-slow steaming in its boxship fleet, however, as it continues to implement its two-year Steady Ahead project aimed at slashing fuel costs.
