The organisation claims BAE Systems wasaware that the pier was in “poor condition” prior to the arrival of the 101,000-gt Carnival Triumph (built 1999) at its Southeast Shipyard in April 2013 but failed to warn theship’s operator before it underwent repairs.
In its report the NTSB estimated that the cruiseship,which broke free in heavy winds and was adrift for several hours beforebeing secured at the Alabama Cruise Terminal, sustained nearly $3mworth of damage.
