Eimskip's move to buy short-sea player Nor Lines has been blocked by Norway's competition authority.
The antitrust watchdog said a takeover, agreed in November, would "significantly impede" competition in the reefer market for frozen fish between northern Norway and northern Europe.
"The competition authority is obligated to block acquisitions that harm competition. Eimskip and Nor Lines are close competitors and collectively hold a substantial market share in today's market," said the authority's director general Lars Sorgard.
