The presidents of Indonesia and the Philippines have launched a new ro-ro route to boost trade.

The Manila Times said Indonesia's Joko Widodo and counterpart Rodrigo Duterte hailed the “extraordinary commitment” to establish the route, taking in Davao, General Santos and Bitung.

“I know you care deeply for the areas of your proud country that are far from the wealthy capital city of Manila,” Widodo told Duterte on Sunday.
