A serious medical condition sent US coastguards rushing to the aid of an elderly man onboard a Star Cruises vessel over the weekend.
The 77-year-old had to be medically evacuated from the 2,384-berth Norwegian Gem near the entrance to Cape Fear River, North Carolina on Sunday.
Coastguard station Portsmouth in Virginia received an emergency call from a crew member of the 2007-built ship on Sunday afternoon saying the passenger was suffering from a suspected acute pulmonary edema.
