An MSC containership has been detained in Somalia after allegedly taking most of the country offline by accidentally severing an internet cable.
The 1,730-teu MSC Alice (built 2003) has been accused of dragging its anchor through a fibre optic line outside Mogadishu on 24 June.
MSC said in a statement: "MSC confirms that the containership MSC Alice has been at anchorage at an approved location outside the port of Mogadishu since 24 June.
