Maersk Line Limited (MLL) has sealed the acquisition of US compatriot 3PSC in a move aimed at expanding its presence in the defence sector.

The Norfolk-based containership and logistics specialist says it intends to take over the company’s contract for the operation and maintenance of special mission ships owned by the US Navy’s Military Sealift Command (MSC).

Gary King, who founded 3PSC in 2002, has agreed to step down as chief executive but it’s unclear what will happen to the remaining 20 employees when MLL moves the operation from Cape Canaveral, Florida to Virginia by the end of this year.
