Matson bought a 17-year old containership for its new feeder service between Hawaii and the Marshall Islands.
The Honolulu-based company said it agreed to buy a 707-teu, US-flagged container ship from New York-based Sealift for the new biweekly service.
The Matt Cox-led company did not identify the vessel. But market sources identify the ship as the 6,369-dwt Marstan (built 2000).
