Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) is gearing up to send out a tender to South Korean shipyards for up to 20 containership newbuildings worth more than $2.5bn and is keeping its options open on how to fuel its next generation of vessels.
Newbuilding sources told TradeWinds that yards anticipate HMM’s tender for 12 supersize boxships of about 23,000 teu and eight containerships of between 14,000 teu and 15,000 teu will be launched towards the end of this month.
