Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has filed court action against a shipper who it alleges disposed of unwanted rubber by shipping it in containers to a fake company in Dubai.
The South Korean liner operators filed the case as part of the Chapter 7 bankruptcy of Khawar Baqi, the owner of Subur Companies. Baqi disputes the allegations, his lawyer tells TradeWinds.
In papers filed in a US Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey, HMM alleges that it was hired by Subur to carry 73 containers of rubber scrap and waste to Dubai.
