Hapag-Lloyd will begin a direct service connecting East Africa to India and the Arabian Gulf, five months after starting East Africa operations.
Rolf Habben Jansen-led Hapag-Lloyd had launched a weekly East Africa service (EAS) in April from Jeddah to Mombasa to Tanzania's Dar es Salaam before returning to Jeddah.
This prompted launching a weekly service connecting India's west coast, the Arabian Gulf and East Africa in September.
