Evergreen Group marked its first containership transit through the new Panama Canal locks over the weekend, as the fifth largest box line plans to upsize the fleet serving the US eastern seaboard.
The 8,452-teu Ever Lambent (built 2012) passed through the new locks on 9 July, Evergreen said in a statement. Evergreen said the transit marked the first Taiwanese-operated boxship over 100,000-dwt to transit the expanded locks.
