The Evangelos Marinakis-backed Greek owner has bought two post-panamaxes from another Marinakis-linked company, its sponsor Capital Maritime & Trading Corp (CMTC).
The 7,943-teu Archimidis (built 2006) and Agamemnon (built 2007) are chartered to Maersk for three years at $34,000 until November and August 2015 at the earliest.
Maersk can extend the deals for four years at $31,500 and $30,500 per day respectively for the fourth and fifth year and $32,000 per day for the final two years.
