Clandestine meetings in bars, restaurants and other social gatherings were all in a day’s work for car carrier sales managers. As they colluded with rivals to stitch up the market against car and vehicle manufacturers, they even had the audacity to meet in each other’s offices on some occasions. Such was their confidence they would not be caught, they also regularly phoned each other to discuss tactics.
