Containership recycling rose sharply in January, delivering some positive news to a sector suffering from low rates.
Data from shipbroker Golden Destiny show that 26 boxships were scrapped in January, a 333% rise on the same month of 2016.
That also marks a 44% increase from the 18 containerships headed to the breakers in December.
