Borealis’ $40m for boxship trio takes year’s spend to $80m

Borealis Maritime is forking out around $40m to buy three more secondhand feeder and traditional panamax containerships.

The UK shipmanager has acquired the 3,534-teu Circular Quay (ex-Gustav Schulte, built 2009) for $11.3m.

It is also believed to be spending a shade under $29m enbloc for the 4,250-teu CPO Miami and CPO Jacksonville (both built 2009).

TradeWinds estimates the total spent on containerships by Borealis so far this year at close to $80m.
