Bimco has revealed containership scrapping is at an all-time high as owners seek to adjust capacity in tough markets.
It said that vessels of a combined 500,000 teu have been demolished in 2016, 4.2m times more than in the same period of 2015.
The last three months has seen 41% of the total scrapping, with activity still picking up, particularly among panamaxes, it added.
