The $6.4m complaint against Bernuth Lines and a laundry list of affiliates is linked to loans secured by the 518-teu Caribbean Jade (built 1997), Bernuth Calypso(built 1999) and 3,000-dwt cargoship Nera II (built 1985).
The plaintiff claims the defendants, including the carrier’s president, failed to cough up cash to cover outstanding balances of loans that were accelerated after it issued a notice of default just months ago.
