Turkey’s Arkas Denizcilik has dipped into the sale-and-purchase market for secondhand containerships for the first time in 12 months, adding a pair of sub-panamax vessels to its fleet and boosting its size to almost 50 ships.
Arkas company sources say it is still too early to confirm any deal. However, according to several reports, the Istanbul-based company has bought the 2,824-teu sisterships Maersk Jaipur and Maersk Jubail (both built 2008) for about $9.5m
