APL Emirates vice president Steve Dolan said media coverage had helped forcethe authorities into a quick decision on his case, which had been dragging onsince February.
The 57-year-old faced up to 50 years behind bars after customs officersfound 30,000 weapons and pieces of ammunition in a container on an APL boxship thatwas travelling between Turkey and Djibouti last year.
He said: “The media attention, especially after it got to the Dubai media,forced this decision rather quickly.”
