Terry Macalister has shipping in his veins. His grandfather was chief engineer on Clan Line vessels, his uncle was shipping manager for Potash and he got a first journalistic job following a law degree and journalism college on International Freighting Weekly. Terry went on to work as Industrial Correspondent for Lloyds List, was on the founding team that established TradeWinds and worked as a business reporter for the London Evening Standard and The Independent. He spent almost two decades at The Guardian as Industrial Correspondent and Energy Editor but continued to write the Wavelength column for TradeWinds. A co-authored book, Crude Britannia, highlighting the importance of the oil industry on politics, economics and popular culture is published in May 2020. Terry is a senior member of Wolfson College, Cambridge.
