Authorities in Western Australia have unveiled a major shake-up in the management of some of the world’s largest commodity ports.

The state government plans to reduce seven of the state’s eight port authorities into four regional bodies to improve efficiencies and cut red tape.

Under the plan, 21 of the state’s ports will be overseen by four regional entities, with Fremantle Port Authority remaining as a stand-alone entity.
