Vinalines has sold the floating dock whose acquisition led to death sentences for two executives.

The structure, known as 83M, was offloaded for VND 38.5bn ($1.71m), according to newswire Tienphong. The buyer was not known.

It was bought by Vinalines in 2008, but left abandoned in Go Dau port ever since.

In 2014, Vietnam’s supreme people’s court upheld the convictions of Duong Chi Dung, the ex-chairman of the state shipowner, and ex-general director Mai Van Phuc, for embezzling VND 10bn each, as well as economic mismanagement as the company nearly collapsed under its debt mountain.
