The Shipping Forecast, first broadcast by the state TV company in 1924, will maintain its daily list of conditions off the UK coast.
The Met Office said it would go on supplying data to the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA), which produces the programme.
There were fears that the slot could end after the BBC said it had to put its weather forecasts out to tender.
