Gizmag reports that Ganti Associates has proposed the 100-metre structure for the Dharavi slum in Mumbai.
The 32 floors would be too much weight for the boxes to bear, so they will be supported by a steel girder frame.
Staggered boxes would be painted in different colours, with each flat consisting of three containers.
The tower would also come with solar panels and wind turbines.
