Somali pirates have freed a Germany-owned ship held for just over two months off the war-torn Horn of Africa country.
The 5,200-teu Ems River (built 2010) is now steaming towards a safe port following its release early on Tuesday, a statement from its owner confirmed.
The Antigua & Barbuda-flagged multi-purpose vessel, which was hijacked inthe Indian Ocean on 27 December, is to proceed towards its original destination port of San Nicholas in Greece, Papenburg-based Grona Shipping said.
