Authorities have reopened the Panama Canal on Thursday just a matter of hours after severe floods forced it to close entirely for the first time in over 20 years.
There were fears that heavy downpours in the region could lead to a prolonged hiatus in shipping operations forcing a knock-on effect in rates.
Ships were once again allowed to transit the strategic waterway on Thursday morning, however, the Panama Canal Authority wrote in a statement.
