The German boxship Nordlake has finally left India after a 15-month detention following a collision that sank a warship.
The owner of the 1,524-teu Nordlake (built 1994), Klaus E Oldendorff, had provided a guarantee of INR 468.7m ($8.91m) to allow it to depart, the value of the vessel as of last April.
It is now heading to Singapore for an overhaul.
The Indian government wanted to keep the ship in the country, fearing it would lose jurisdiction over it.
