In a statement the organisation identified the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) as the counterparty on the other side of a new memorandum of agreement that “establishes policies and procedures” for the survey and classification of the National Defense Reserve Fleet.
“The MOA establishes a charter that improves the timelines, efficiency and cost effectiveness for surveys and updates terminology, references and regulations,” MarAd added in the announcement, which was issued on Friday.
