Tagir Izmaylov was virtually alone in giving honest evidence at Sovcomflot’s long-running corruption trial, a London High Court judge ruled on Friday.
The former president of Novoship was also cleared of accepting any bribes from compatriot Russian shipowner Yuri Nikitin who was the biggest loser in the case.
Even two separate investigations brought against Izmaylov by his former employers and Russian authorities failed to uncover any concrete evidence of fraudulent dealings with Nikitin despite the pair spending a number of lavish holidays together.
