Iranian construction firms are trying to win deals to work on the massive new Nicaragua Canal project.
Representatives accompanied foreign minister Mohammed Javad Zarif on a trip to the central American country in a bid to muscle in on the $50bn business, AFP reported.
The waterway is planned by China’s HKND as a rival to the Panama Canal.
The start of construction has been delayed by a year, but could begin at the end of 2016.
