A Greek operator has been fined in the US after being caught in an oil pollution sting involving one of its bulkers earlier this year.
Stanships Inc, which controls the 61,500-dwt Doric Glory (built 1976), was handed the $700,000 fine by a Louisiana court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to charges in June.
The Panama-flagged vessel was boarded by inspectors at New Orleans in May where it was found that crew had knowingly let around 400 litres of oil a day leak from a bust pipe since at least April that year.
