Armed guards now look set to be a common feature onboard Danish ships operating off Somalia as the government takes a more “open approach” to the threat of piracy in the region.
Shipowners in Denmark have convinced authorities to act swiftly to curb the “unacceptable” threat to shipping off the Horn of Africa as the government also unveiled a near $70m aid package to war-torn Somalia.
