Evangelos Marinakis-controlled Capital Ship Management has shelled out $11m to buy a half-finished, 2,000-teu containership newbuilding, according to sources.
The vessel was part of an eight-ship order placed by Singapore’s Sea Consortium four years ago at STX Dalian Shipbuilding for a reported price of $30m apiece.
However, Jens Storm, who heads up Capital’s boxship operation, says he is unable to comment on the reports.
